a disturbing trend in videogames...

This being an election year, I thought I'd bring up something I noticed while playing Twilight Princess: Link's all-consuming hatred of pottery! No urn is left unsmashed in this game, and I did some research... it's like this in every Zelda game since 1991! Also worth mentioning is Resident Evil 4's dependence on foreign typewriters for game saving... we should all be very concerned; thanks for your time, and remember to vote.a disturbing trend in videogames...

What is this?? are you really distrubed by the foreign typewriter in RE4, i didn't even notice them and who cares if link smashs a few pots but what has me most confused is the election crap and then you throw in the Canada topic I just don't know. Anyway I want McCain to win and Canada is cool i vacation there every year and has more than 1 road even if south park says it doesn't. Except one time i went to Canada on a fishing trip and didn't realize it was the queens b-day, everyone was outta control. One more question for canucks why do you wear your life jackets outta water, I ate diner wit a bunch of canucks and they had them on the whole night even like 6 hours after we left the water?

Shortage still?

I can't seem to find a Wii anywhere. I went to multiple Targets and Best Buys and they never tell me when they're getting a new shipment or anything. I haven't even seen a Wii in stock since summer... Any idea where/when/how I should get one and do you think I will be able to get one by the time brawl comes out?Shortage still?
Same here.I'm going to call every store TWICE a day until they have some in stores.I'm hoping they'll get so fed up of me calling that they'll hold one for me.Shortage still?
DO the stores hold them for you?
DO the stores hold them for you?
Unfortunatly not, none of the stores where I live hold them for people. So I gotta call, then if there is some, I gotta rush there and hope they have some left.
Yeah, they are still pretty hard to find...A local store where I live had a few this past weekend, but not anymore
I just want one by March. I'm gonna call a bunch of targets. My sisters boyfriend works at target but he can't hold on for me so I guess i'll ask him when they're getting them in.
just keep up with gonintendo.comjust like this last week on saturday they posted that on sundays ad for Circuit City it said they had a min per store on sunday morning... then its just up to you to camp out early enough to get one.
Ya I was lucky, I was looking for a Wii for Christmas and I couldn't find one anywhere, but then one day my mom went to a local walmart, and they just hapend to have a some Wii's that morning in stock and I got the last one, you have to be there right when they stock it, or you will never get one unless you wait a thousand years.
I got lucky getting my Wii. We found one at a Wal-Mart when I was on vacation and I was disappointed because I had to wait a week before I was able to play it:(.
good thing i got mine on launch day XD but im amazed they are still flying off the shelves.
I got my wii from my wife as a Christmas present in December 2006. Yes, I'm still surprised how hard it is to find one.
I got my wii from my wife as a Christmas present in December 2006. Just call the stores every morning and pray..
I got a Wii today at best buy :o There were like 5 in stock.
They're still selling fast. I actually saw a shipment when I was in the store the other day, and at least 20 people stampeded over to the games section
the thing that i hate the most is when some one buys the wii just to sell it on eBay or something like that. or even people that do that smash my wii thingy.
i got mine in the summer when it was actually possible to see them in stores. It was sitting in a Boscovs Store right behind a pile of games. I said ''Is that a Wii?!?!'' and i asked, and it was!!! So i bought it, and i loved it like it was my first child...
Best way to get one is find out when stores get their shipment in(Gamestop's around here get em in about 11:30 or so)... Call around that time every day, best way to get one:)
I've been looking for one for awhile, no luck.
hard to find one here in Europe too

Storage idea for wii. Pretty sick idea. ...

My idea is to have a blank disk that you insert into the wii, and then you can play games that have too much storage. this disk would play the games that you have downloaded via the virtual console with disk memory space like dreamcast games. Everytime you would want to play a different game, that game would load onto the disk. It is a very cheap way to have storage. Sikkk idea but im not sure if it oculd work, having many disks would make more sense like having a burner, but having just one disk would be sikker.Thoughts**Storage idea for wii. Pretty sick idea. ...
you want the wii to burn VC games on a blank DVD disk?Storage idea for wii. Pretty sick idea. ...
Beleive me, Nintendo wouldn't do that.
Same avatar...very confusing.
Not a good ideaBut good for trying
That is an interesting idea, but I don't think it beats being able to just play the VC games from an SD card. Much more elegant and the hardware is already in place to do it. Just need a firmware update.
The Wii doesn't have burning capablities. It's disc drive is read only. Also, like I said in the other thread, DC games wouldn't work anyways. There isnt enough power for emulation.

Burning the games onto a blank DVD? That sounds a little too easy to pirate. Easy piracy is what killed the Dreamcast!!!!!
Good try. Bad idea.
Except the Wii can only read discs, it wasn't designed to burn them.

If I was Nintendo, then I would have a portable hardrive/external hardrive that you can attach via usb cable in the back of the wii. It will have much more space and a great way to expand the wiis capabilities.

BOOM Blox the game

why does no body like this game. i was on some fourm and i mentioned Blox and every one started flaming me and the gameit looks like a cool idea to me and could be really fun.Tell me why it looks bad to you guysBOOM Blox the game
It's kinda an interesting idea, but it looks too simple to me. Also, I could see it getting kinda repetative if it doesn't have a lot of variety in puzzles. Personally I think it would probably be better as a Wiiware title.BOOM Blox the game
I think I might get it if it was around $20-$30, but I don't think I'd be willing to pay full price for it.
It has a lot of potential. But I want to know what are the different blocks properties.

• You Think The Wii Could Emulate The Drea ...

Why wouldn't it be able to? ASSUMING if there was an extra source of memory released. Just assumptions..... It's not like the Wii isn't strong enough.

I apologize if you consider this topic repetitive. It's hard to make good subjects of debate when you are not Jaysonguy. (Just kiddin)You Think The Wii Could Emulate The Drea ...
of course it could :PYou Think The Wii Could Emulate The Drea ...
There's absolutely no reason it can't other than memory. Though, i still have my DC, I want Wii to sell Saturn games.
No sweat lolAs for the topic, no, the Wii does not have the kind of horsepower needed to emulate a Saturn gameThe Wii doesn't emulate Gamecube games, that's hardware based.
It's more powerful than the Dreamcast, so it could emulate it.
How many times do I have to say this today? Emulation requires.... demands... that the hardware emulating be many times more powerful than the hardware being emulated. This isn't like trying to run an old program on a newer computer. There are architecture differences in the hardware. The processor is not even the same make, let alone model. And since unlike PCs, which use middleware (eg directX, OpenGL, etc) and share operating systems*, Console games are written for the hardware directly. *on that note, remember that games written for Windows work in Windows only, NOT Mac or Linux. (even though the latter of the two is usually run on the same hardware)
The Wii could indeed emulate Dreamcast games, but the key thing is: could it do it well? I don't think it would be able to maintain reasonable performance levels if it was to be done.
I don't think it could, but if it was honestly able to play games like Sonic Adventure (2), that would be sweet.

I actually made this topic based on what you (Plothole) posted in a recent thread. It's just coincidence you commented in this post and explained yourself a little more. I didn't have specific examples on why the Wii couldn't do it. Now I do.
Perhaps a couple of years ago the whole architecture difference between older consoles mattered, but we're at a point where the hardware is efficient enough that the Wii could easily emulate DC games. I think the Wii is more powerful than people think, they immedietely see the specs and make a quick judgement. Either way I would love to see Hydro Thunder, that would be sweet (even though a N64 version was also released).Plus we could get all those random Capcom fighting games such as Tech Romancer.

Probably a dumb question regarding the W ...

I know very little believe it or not, about HDTV. I have been using a regular TV my entire life, and I've finally decided to jump into the flat screen world. I have read that the Wii is not capable of high resolution images like the other two systems of this generation, but my question is more along the lines of: Is there a visual improvement for the Wii games in getting a HDTV 720p?I'm simply just looking for an improvement of an HDTV versus using the old, FAT tvs of yesterday. Probably a dumb question regarding the W ...
You'll see a better overall picture but the graphics will be rougher for some games, as in actually looking roughThe Wii outputs at 480p max so make sure you get the component cables so that you're able to take advantage of that. Not only will it look better but many sets will suffer some sort of lag without the cables.Probably a dumb question regarding the W ...
I thought my Wii looked better on my SDTV than my 720p hdtv, but it still looks fine. More jaggies are exposed.
The Wii has a maximum output of 480p. A standard definition television has a maximum output of 480i. A 720p HDTV will output the Wii at 480p if you have component cables, which will look quite a bit better than composite on a SDTV.

NO.If you want those games than get another console. Having more than one console helps so that you can play almost all of the great games of the year, and it means that you don't have to complain about the Wii not having certian games...

Wow, lots of hostility. It doesn't look like the op was complaining to me...he was just saying it would be cool. And i agree. Why people believe the Wii 'just isn't that kind of system' is beyond me. Yes, the tech specs for those games would probably have to be reduced considerably, but there is nothing inherent in the Wii that says you can't have these types of games on it. The more variety the better as far as i'm concerned.
Assassin's Creed wouldn't even be fun on the Wii. Any motion controls they added would be stupid (except throwing knives I guess) and half of what makes that game is how beautiful the graphics are. As for the other two, I have yet to play Bioshock (have it but don't want it taking up all my time during classes) and don't want DMC.
Wow, lots of hostility.
Yeah, a bit too much. On top of that, this thread doesn't have much to do with the Wii in the first place, so I have to lock it. Perhaps the System Wars forum would be a more appropriate place to discuss this.
• this works
• why doesnt nintendo boost up the online ...

topicWhat i mean is why dnt they have better online like Xbox 360 is it becuase you pay in xbox 360 or something?Like in Guitar Hero you cant message or add a person you just playedIn Fifa 08 you can only message what the limits are like Good Game, Hello, etc..I mean hopefully in SSBB and Mario Kart Wii its better onlineWhat do you think they should boost up, too?why doesnt nintendo boost up the online ...
Nintendo is still too stuck on the whole motion sensing remote thing to realize that good online features and play is a HUGE deal to a lot of people.
why doesnt nintendo boost up the online ...
Nintendo is a Japanese company and Japanese aren't as big on the internet as other cultures. Nobody knows why exactly, it just never jived with them. However, with advent of wireless and mobile internet, Japan is taking to the internet so I expect this to change. Perhaps minorly this gen (no more friend codes, more internet based channles like weather) but certainly in a big way next gen.
Nintendo doesnt have very many games that would be good online....
they purposely make things like that....they see it is protecting children from predators etc..

Jumper hands-on...

If doen properly it could be good..So far the combat sound cool... if this actually work and the plot is good it could be a really nice game and one that i would get...Now of course is a movie-game ''port'' which we all know how they tend to end up.... but oh well.. lets wait and see..here the hand-on by GSEnjoy, hope is news to someone...

Super Smash Bros. for DS???

I think so!!!Super Smash Bros. for DS???
Maybe but ask this on the Nintendo DS board next time. Super Smash Bros. for DS???
Is this a rumor or are you just suggesting it?
LOL i saw this same topic in the DS forums and it got locked there. It will also get locked in here because you are ignoring the sticky thread above the forum page. and yes, a smash bros. would be cool for DS.
Yea..... no. they only have it for the wii, 64, and gc dude.:( But it would be cool!
AHHHH! STOP POSTING THIS TOPIC FOR THE SANITY OF EVERYONE! YES, SB would be an AWESOME DS game! Everyone knows this! I have seen this forum post over 20 times! Nintendo does not care about a DS Smash right now, they are a little more concerned about the success of the Wii version at this point!

Price Prediction Game!!!!

Ok so Ive picked 10 games coming out for the Wii that may or may not have the standard $50 price tag. Ive numbered each one a wrote a bit about why it might be more or less than most other games. All you have to do is reply with your guesses (numbered would make it easier) and you can choose to write a little something next to you guess explaining your reasoning if you want. All prices are in U.S. Dollars for this game but if you are in another coutry feel free to make your own price game. This is just for fun so if you think someone else is wrong its ok to do a little bit of debating but just keep it friendly.1. Wii FitWill include the game and the board2. Mario Kart WiiWill include the game and the wheel3. Samba De AmigoMay come with something extra, may not. May be a very simplistic game or may be packed with features.4. Sega Superstar TennisSega nuts like me will get this game for sure but now that Gonintendo has announced no online for Wii version who know what it will cost.5. Worms A Space OddityClassic worms gameplay but no online mode.6. Wii MusicWho knows?7. Boom BloxCool idea but may need to be budget priced to sell well.8. World of GooIdependant game coming to the Wii... if you dont know about it you should look it up.9. Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30Who knows what they will charge, or if it will even ever come out...10. OkamiA lot of people are pumped about it on the Wii but it is still a port.Price Prediction Game!!!!
1. Wii Fit$80I think that they are going to try to sell it for as low as possible, otherwise people will think that they're getting a full fledged game when they're really getting another WiiSports-esque experience (a lot of hours could be logged, but probably won't by most). . Mario Kart Wii$50I heard that the Wii Wheel was free with the game. Don't ask me where, I just heard.3. Samba De Amigo$50I don't know much about this game. Maybe $40. I'm pretty sure you don't get maracas with it though.4. Sega Superstar Tennis$50I don't see how they could charge more or less for this.5. Worms A Space Oddity$20That's not a prediction. That is the maximum possible price that people should ever pay for a game that doesn't have any online, even though that would be the only reason why people would want to play Worms anymore (I mean, you can play clones of it on the internet for free all over the place).6. Wii MusicOhh, tricky one...I have no idea. I bet they'll release it with a Wiimote or something. What other peripherals do they have?7. Boom Blox$50I don't see how Steven would want people to get this for a budget price. It has his name attatched to it. I could be very wrong though. 8. World of GooNever heard of it. I'll look into it.9. Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30Hmm, is this the fabled ''comes with a headset'' game?If so, $60.10. Okami$30It could sell for more. It has a cult following, so maybe when it launches it will cost more.Price Prediction Game!!!!
1. Wii Fit$70-80 2. Mario Kart Wii$50, i too, heard the wheel was going to be free. 3. Samba De Amigo$30-50 (whether they are reasonable and charge it based on wat it is: a dreamcast port, or they become greedy and charge full price.)4. Sega Superstar Tennis$50. Online or not, they will charge this amount.5. Worms A Space Oddity$40. I thought it did have online! 6. Wii Music$20 7. Boom Blox$308. World of Goo$20 9. Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30$50 because Ubisoft charged this much for PoP: Rival Swords 10. Okami$30. Will go the same route as RE:4 : old game, port, awesomeness in a box.
1. Wii Fit: $70. $50 game + $20 peripheral

2. Mario Kart Wii: $50. The wheel thing better be 'free'

3. Samba De Amigo: Haven't paid attention to this enough. $50

4. Sega Superstar Tennis: $50

5. Worms A Space Oddity: It should be $30 or $40. I'll go with $40 simply because I think they will try to high end it.

6. Wii Music: No idea what this even is yet. Probably some karokee game that I'll skip.

7. Boom Blox: At $30 I will pick it up maybe. More than likely I'll wait for the drop to $20. I bet it shows up near $40 though, followed by a comment that 3rd party games don't sell well.

8. World of Goo: No idea. I guess I should look it up.

9. Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30: This sounds like a WWII shooter again. $50. If so 99% chance of skip from me.

10. Okami: $50.

There are my guesses.

Edit: Forgot to put on my Wii fit number.
here are my guesses
1. Wii Fit$802. Mario Kart Wii$50 ...I'll be pretty ticked if they try to get more money because of the Wiimote whell shell. 3. Samba De Amigo$40 4. Sega Superstar Tennis$40 its got all the oldschool sega guys (even alex kidd I hear) so im going to pick it up eventually no matter if its full price or not but for it to sell well I think it has to be at most $40. 5. Worms A Space Oddity$30 6. Wii Music$30 assuming its not bundled with something else. 7. Boom Blox$50 I think they are going to try to sell it at $50 at first but it will go down pretty soon after.8. World of Goo$40 (that is just a wild stab in the dark)
9. Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30$3010. Okami$30

GH3 Help!!

Ok, I got pretty good at Guitar Hero 3, at least on medium and I've 5 stared every song but two. So I started on hard and for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to place my fingers, and the few songs that I have passed was pretty much luck. So I was wondering if someone could maybe give me some advise?GH3 Help!!
Medium to Hard is a tough step to take the first time. I started by keeping my four fingers on G, R, Y, B and using my pinky to hit every Orange note. Even switching from Blue to Orange and back, using only my pinky. Try practicing chords with your pinky and middle finger, too. And spend some time in the Training mode at a slower speed. It's less exciting, but I found it helped a lot. Good luck!GH3 Help!!
Thanks, for the help. I'll try that. And by the way I wonder why not many people play this game online, I love it but almost never can find a game!!
Place your fingers in normal position (index-green pinky-blue).If the coming dots are mostly between green and blue, stay where you are, if there are orange dots drift your hand to right (index-red, pinky-orange) and back left according to the dot colours.Use your four fingers equally and if dots alternate between green and orange(which shouldn't hapen in hard a lot) learn to open and spread your fingers.Always know which colour your index finger is on (green or red) and practice a looooooooooooooooot. You will get better in no time.
most songs u probably just need to use the blue-to orange with your pinky but its easier somtimes to place ur fingers on R, Y, B, O, and hit green with your index but that takes alot of practice to get used too

The first tier of songs (especially on GH1) only has you hitting a few orange notes. By the time you need to hit a lot of them in combinations, your reflexes have started to catch up.

I recommend keeping your fingers on GRYB and changing them to RYBO as the song calls for it. USUALLY if the orange note is being played it won't go higher than R until its time to switch positions again and when green is played it won't go lower than blue.just change positions it works pretty well
oh also sometimes you need to double up (BO chords) so playing them both with the same finger won't work

MP3.
Game, either Galaxy or MP3. I've played both a ton, can't decide which was better.'Accessory, I've gotta say the Zapper. RE's a ton more fun with it and Crossbow Training's an awesome party game, pretty much made the thing pay for itself.
MLB Power Pros

I'd have to say the wii system itself. I was so pumped when it finally came in the mail. But after that, probably Mario Galaxy. I think I like Twilight Princess more, but Mario Galaxy gave off an amazing, exciting vibe. Everyone knew that the wii was for real because it finally had a game worthy of competing for Game of The Year, and of course, it ended up winning that distinction with most gaming institutions. It was just really cool to pop it in for the first time.
i think galaxy and GH3 probably. but galaxy more cuz i need the replacement disc for GH3 cuz its not 5.1 dolby:cry:

mmorpg on wii??? yes or no?

if they release a mmorpg for wii, would you buy it?mmorpg on wii??? yes or no?
Depends. If it brought something fresh to the genre, then I may wish to try it.Of couse a modern MMO would be difficult sans a hard drive.mmorpg on wii??? yes or no?
MMO's are rarely good on consoles, considering their built for computers and require alot of memoryplus no chat would equal failure
If Nintendo didn't allow SquareEnix to run FFXI as it is on the Wii, I doubt you'd want an MMO on the system at all.(cliff notes as to why: Friend Codes suck) Lack of harddrive is solved easy via an external USB harddrive.

Crystal Chronicles isn't an MMO.
Is it technically possible? Yes.Will it happen in the future? Maybe. Will it have an iota of quality? No.
Monster Hunter(3?) is comming. Isn't that a MMO?
Monster Hunter(3?) is comming. Isn't that a MMO?
No. A MMO is a game that puts thousands of players in a single continuous world. Monster Hunter is only a four player game.

The lack of hard drive is no reason to say an MMO wouldn't work. People have this idea that hard drives are required for MMO's, but it's simply not true. MAJOR CONTENT DOWNLOADS require hard drive space, but the actual client itself does not.A console MMO could be distributed on a disc easily, as only some minor settings actually need to be saved on the console itself, since the characters, inventory, etc, etc, is all saved on the servers. Major content updates can come in the form of new discs, which would obviously be expansions.Need an example? Everquest Adventures Online was an MMORPG on the PS2 that was released BEFORE the PS2 hard drives came out. It ran completely off of the disc, while only saving minor settings and small updates to a memory card. It had an expansion, as well, which came in the form of a new disc. The expansion disc REPLACED the original disc, so all the original content AND the expansion content fit completely on ONE SINGLE DISC. The game ran well, and was actually very enjoyable since the community was very friendly compared to the typical MMO's out there now.Now if the PS2 could run an MMORPG with NO hard drive, I'm pretty sure the Wii could do it better, especially with the advanced controller. Will it happen? Probably not since Nintendo has the kiddy protection act going on. Would I like to see one? Yes. I love MMORPGs. I did here a rumor of a Secret of Mana MMORPG, but that was back in '06 and there's been no news since. But here's hoping! lol
Nintendo and Nexon have an Agreement so Nexon will make MMOs for the Wii and the DS so far they only made Maple Story for the DS but they will make an MMO for the Wii that is why Nintendo ment with so many MMO developers so they can make MMOs for the Wii and Nexon was the only one that Nintendo agreed with so far.
Well, they wanted to make Animal Crossing Wii MMO-like
The lack of hard drive is no reason to say an MMO wouldn't work. But here's hoping! lol
Everquest is an old game. A game without content downloads and buffering (another use for hard drives) would seem out of date by todays MMO standards.
Well, they wanted to make Animal Crossing Wii MMO-like
That would be the best idea for a wii mmo, but it should have the option for single player as well as an online city.
If they made an MMO RPG dualy developed by Blizard and Gamefreak and Published by nintendo I would say GOTY.

Rumor: Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Wii Bound?
Ubisoft failed on Wii even with games they had to localize they could even get the shipments right. If they did this on Wii they would screw it up.Rumor: Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Wii Bound?
Ehhh I'm not a big fan of rainbow six vegas for some reason...
Yeah, that's cool. If it does come to Wii, I might buy it if it gets good reviews. :)I'm not as negative as some of you about third party games on Wii. Developers are starting to get used to the Wii, and the upcoming third party games are looking better. :D
No way.If it does come, it will be a severely stripped down version. I just don't see that game working well AT ALL with the control scheme, plus graphically in it's current state it wouldn't be possible. It would have to have a major scale back.

That would be sweet, hopefully it'd turn out well.

Did I say that? No. I clearly stated that TP isn't similar to Prime 3 as it features a hella lot of First person alien shooting, which is the exact opposite of Twilight Princess.

I guess they are about as close as a FPS and a third person adventure can get. But no, I would not say they are too similar.
its not similar at allits like saying mushrooms taste like chocalate,
its not similar at allits like saying mushrooms taste like chocalate,
if u put chocolate on them they do
i think that the two are very different actually..
They are very different, however there are some similarities. For example the exploration, the puzzle-solving, the maps. The formula is very similar - go in to the area using your map, collect items, perform certain tasks, and then defeat the main boss of the stage. But although they may have some similarities in their style, they are not too much alike. One is a science fiction FPS/adventure game while the other is a third-person/middle ages type of game.
what are you smoking? it must be pretty good if you think TP and MP3 are similar.blasters and aliens or... running around with a sword (not even close to a blaster) killing monsters (not aliens) and beyblade (that weird spinner thing)
If you are the fact that you go into an area, use your map, collect items, do certain tasks, and kill a boss as the reasoning why they are similar, then you might as well say that 95 percent of games are similar.
the only way they are similar is that they are both great games, or else they are very different from one another
I can see some similarities. You gain new weapons/power ups that help you progress through previously unexplored parts of the game. You fight bosses that each require a unique way of destroying them. Your health can increase. You will have to rely on your map to get past certain areas and they are both epic in scope. But, on the other hand, there are a ton of games that follow this formula.
the reson im saying thier simaler is because of the puzzels, and that you have to have a certain item to get farther in the game.
They felt distinctly different to me.
How are they even close to being similar??? The platforming/puzzle elements?

Metroid; I prefer the way it's presented.
well i go with zelda because i really never got into the metroid games but if those stories were to fit together better than the zelda series i would go with that i like when games go in chronalogical order lol idk i just like how you know when you play then next one you are going to pick it up and know exactly what it is going to be like.
i dunno the metroid prime games are really effin good, OOT is just about the best game ever made so ill have to say Zelda
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption no contest.
went with Zelda, I like Mario the most out of all them and its got the funniest story. Come on a plumber fighting a big lizard to save a princess is pretty sweet. I've only played corruption and i liked it but the story is whack in my opinion too much computer jargo and weird stuff goin on. Zelda overall the coolest but don't bash Mario's story when comparing it to the whack story of Metroid.
I love the story of Zelda. Mario shouldn't be there, it's story doesn't even make sense.
agreed Mario's story line is either the same or lame:o
When I think Zelda I think triforce, visit the farm, save zelda kill ganon. Repeat with story with each rehash and change the method to accomplish the same things story wise. Though I do like trying to think how each game in the 'series' fits together. But I'm not even sure it ever was suppose to.

Metroid seems much more intense storywise. Deals with extinction and bio-warfare and a lot of other topics that are interesting in real life too (at least to me). combined across more than one trilogy and a few other off-shoot games makes it a lot more interesting as a story and series.

Mario has too many different stories to make a series out of any of them. Thus Mario's series as a story = fail.
metroid. no contest.Mario and zelda have almost the same story line. Mario is relaxing, then some stupid fire breathing turtul comes out of nowere and kidnaps the princcesLink is relaxing, then a stupid wizard/warrior dude with a funny name comes from his ''dark kingdome'' and kidnaps the princces.then, bowser gets beatup by a plumer, and ganondorph(spelling?) gets beatup by a farmboy.
MARIO whats the point ? This was tough but i am a true Metroid fan and metroid prime , just the first one alone is like heaven compacted on a disk same with windwaker and majoira's mask (cartridge) thoes are my favrite zelda games but the metroid prime seris , super metroid and fusion were amazing.
Mario's RPGs have some pretty good plots, in fact, I vote for them. They're funny. Zelda's are almost never great, but they're presented well. Metroid Prime had good plots, but I never played any of them. And by the way, I know people will object to this, so let me set this straight, it's my opinoin, and I'm not going to let some stranger on the internet change it. Zelda's storylines are typically bland. There, I said it. Flame away.Edit: But I still love the Zelda series, forgot to mention that. My third-favorite series after Mario and Smash Bros.
If they bothered to flesh Metroid out, then sure. Its got a fantastic setting and tons of potential. But many of you seem to be forgetting that with the exception of Fusion, there has been no actual story beyond ''Kill enemies'' and ''Oh noes, Phazon''. No character development, dialogue, emotional bonds (excluding Fusion) or even a decent climax. Think of it this way. If you had to turn any of these into a non-interactive, 100% faithful adaption, full length movie experience, which would hold your attention the most? If you say anything other than Zelda, then it'd be wise to examine your head. Because Metroid would be two hours of Samus backtracking.
I'm gonna have to say Metroid. It's the only series listed above that has a different story each time. Every time there's a new Mario game, you go out to save Peach, and the same goes for Zelda.
I'm gonna have to say Metroid. It's the only series listed above that has a different story each time. No Peach and Zelda saving. Try harder.
Zelda is obviously the winner hear. Although Metriod was better than Mario, It seemed a little on the generic side with its si-fi feel. Not to say it wasn't good, but I thought Zelda to be more epic and involving. I don't understand why you put Mario in there, since his story isn't good at all
Think of it this way. If you had to turn any of these into a non-interactive, 100% faithful adaption, full length movie experience, which would hold your attention the most? Wow. I personally feel that both Zelda and Metroid could make a good full length movie. But I would definately go with Metroid as that would be like watching an awesome 'Aliens like' movie. Sorry, that would definately be cooler than seeing a boy in green tights.

An with regards to backtracking... In Zelda OoT you crossed the field of hyrule how many times? Granted eventually you did it with a horse and a different sky. Both games had plenty of backtracking. Metroid just stands out more because usually it was because you were lost and you had to keep telling yourself 'I swear I've been here 10 times! wth?!' Zelda you just ran though it without noticing you were backtracking most of the game.

Do developers learn from other developer ...

For example, when you look at Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, EA put together a great first-person shooter with great motion-controls. And when you play it, you sort of get the sense that they may have learned a bit from playing Metroid Prime 3. This got me to wondering: How often does this occur? Do all developers research other games in order to figure out what they could do to improve their own games?Ubisoft claims that their upcoming sequel to Red Steel is going to be vastly improved over its predeccesor... Well, I for one hope that the development team has been playing hours and hours of Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 so they can see how a FPS game on the wii should be made.Do developers learn from other developer ...
Nintendo has been willing to share it's design methods to get the Wii games goingAlso some devs have teamed up with Nintendo to form their own studios. Namco/Bandai created a studio with Nintendo to create games.Do developers learn from other developer ...
lol yeah I hope Ubisoft has been playing some MOH. MOH has really good controls but its surely not flawless hopefully RS2 will improve on this (more levels online, better campaign, more game modes, different weapons, more customizeable characters)
There's probably some prima donna programmers out there who don't bother what other people are doing, but I bet most developers play the other guys' games to see what the competition is up to.

Just read it before you posted this topic. Talk about a bad looking game. Conspiracy Entertainment has no shame, or proof of quality.
HaHa...1.0/10...I wonder why they didn't just give it a zero...

Hey there Wii forum, share with me your stories of weird things that happend with your Wii. I'll start it off.Well, I had a freaky thing happen to my Wii yesterday, I turned it on after not playing it for about 5 days, and everything was black and white. I checked out the channels, I turned on SMG and ALL of it was black and white. I messed with the tv and the video cables for a while and it didn't change so I unplugged it for about 10 minutes turned it back on and it was fine. Go figure.Your guys turn.Weird Wii stories.
Lol yea your example is pretty strange. In my case my remotes kept eerily flashing when trying to connect to the wii. It was downright creepy.Weird Wii stories.

Mario Kart: the delay scene again?

rememember how SSBB was delayed like 5 times? is Mario Kart going to be the same because it was supose to come out January and now i have no idea what is going on?if this gets delayed to like next year, i will not be surprised.......... (what news is there on the game if any know)Mario Kart: the delay scene again?
I think it's release date is in April. Maybe the 19 or 20th? I really hope it doesn't get delayed.Mario Kart: the delay scene again?
wii would be busy with brawl anyways
Every release date I've seen said Early 2nd qtr of 2008... doesn't sound like Jan to me.
Look at how many times brawl was delayed...
I'm guessing nintendo might want a pretty good time frame between Brawl and Mk. Me(like many others) will be playing brawl and will be too busy for MK. I would have to wait at 4 months before i would want to play MK after brawl(idk why lol)
Brawl was delayed twice. Mario Kart has never had a set date. Any other points?
Who cares? Once an awaited game comes out, it only takes about a week for people to start whining about what's coming next.
If neither Mario Kart nor Brawl come out before the summer, I will be super pissed.
If neither Mario Kart nor Brawl come out before the summer, I will be super pissed.
But I bet you won't be pissed enough to not buy them. I try not to get so worked up when a videogame comes late, because I bet it would seem really silly to my pioneer ancestors.
Apparently its release date is now set for 11/12 April for JP.

Games that people said were good but did ...

Three games I got that people said where really good but I didn't like are:1. Zack and Wiki: Sure some of the puzzles were interesting but after a while it got incredibly boring and seemed like a huge chore.2: Super Paper Mario: For me, it was alright, I played through it. I guess I enjoyed it but for me I like games with a little more action, but I did like all the different settings and the small puzzles.3: Wario Ware: I liked this game, I had it for a while, but then I started to really dislike it and it became very pointless- I think it is overpriced. I sold it to a friend.I know all of these games were hard to develop and had a lot of time put into them but I enjoyed games like Need for Speed: Carbon (a decent PS2 port) a lot more and I still play that from time to time. What are some of the games you got that people seemed to raving about but didn't like?Games that people said were good but did ...
Mark me down for Super Paper Mario as well. The only great part of the game is the dialogue, but even that is a bit too much. The idea of merging 2D and 3D gameplay is interesting, but it doesn't turn out very well. Same with platforming and RPG elements; it's an interesting idea that falls kind of flat in this game. I feel like the game could be much better if it had been more focused on one genre - either a 2D platformer or a 3D RPG. Sure, we've seen both of those before, but they also worked before. Sometimes putting two great things together doesn't work too well. Like ranch dressing and Skittles... just doesn't work.Games that people said were good but did ...
Mark me up for the Z%26W one, I looked over the cover art that didn't appeal to me in the first place and unfortunately I never got over them. It was the same in the game as on the cover. The puzzles were also a 'do once; never want to do again' affair for me.

I still plan on playing SPM sometime. WarioWare I'm skipping simply because I can't stand Wario, Ever.

Fortunately most games I play were rated less than 'good' and I liked them a whole lot more. It think it stems from playing what I actually really think I'm interested in rather than playing what everyone else is.
Paper Mario was average.
medal of honor 2. metroid on the ds had waaaaaay better online and single player. controls were nice though
I would say that I've liked most games that I've played, but at the same time I don't think many of them are as great as people say. So, they're still good games, but I'm not as ''OMG'' as everyone else.
Did anyone find the controls for Zack and Wiki to be just okay? I don't understand why people say they are so good. They are very unresponsive.. The best controls IMO is in Metroid Prime 3. I always enjoy turning the switches and using the nunchuk to rip of shields it feels so good and intuitive!
Strikers.... it was ok just not as good as I hoped.

I just didn't know what some of the symbols of the wheel thing meant. But most of the switches and stuff are very delayed, I didn't like the feeling of that at all, Metroid felt much better.
well zack %26 wiki is one of my favorite games...Strikers was really easy or really not, there wasnt much inbetween. I got strikers mostly cause I wanted online play but online was just so dang laggy and when it wasnt it really just felt like I ws playing a bot.
I agree about Strikers. Bought it for the online mode, but so much lag it's not worth it. I didn't think the game was all that great anyway though, so no loss
Metroid 3 was god awful IMO.Of course I'm a huge FPS gamer on PC so I think I'm just spoiled

When you play a lot and you go online there are always challenges and for me there is a pretty even chance that I will lose or win so it's very fun.

SMG > Wow, I just don't get it... It's like Mario 64 all over again. BORING! :?On the Z%26W controls, I found them sometimes unresponsive my biggest problem with them was the anchor %26 the sword fights. And MP3s switch controls are not better, it took me a few minutes of screwing around the first time to open the damn doors. I would say that those part are equally unresponsive. The difference is in MP3 opening doors with the 3-action switches adds nothing to the game where as the motion control in Z%26W add to the game greatly.
Well on the Wii it would be WarioWare. Its dull in comparison to rayman raving rabbids. I thought Super Paper Mario was fun but it got a tad boring for me towards the end.

As for overall, my topic pick would be Halo .. but since were in the Wii board i guess WW:SM and SPM.
