So I was trying to play Smash Bros. Melee yesterday, and I always got the disc read error when playing it on the Wii. However, my GCN plays it fine. The disc does have some noticeable damage on it, but if the GCN can play it, why can't the Wii?Thanks.help my wii wont play melee
mayb you put the disc the other wayhelp my wii wont play melee
Have you ever tried playing this game before on Wii? Or is it the first time you play it on the console?
I mean you used to play it but suddenly yesterday it stopped working?
Maybe you inserted it from the other side...or it was just a fault of your console.
Have you tried playing other GC games on Wii? Do they work?
The same thing happend to my friends SMBM it worked fine one day then the next it didn't work, he brought it over my house and put it in my gamecube and it worked fine
All of my GCN games work with the Wii but Melee. I've played it before and it worked in the Wii, but yesterday it didn't. aaa help
Hmm..sounds very strange...
What may have happened?
I think that you must retry it one more time and if the problem insists, i suggest to call nintendo and ask them about the problem...
Maybe you can send an email to nintendo.
Nintendo wants you to buy Brawl
that happens to me sometimes. its because my discs are scratched a little.i just do what they tell you to and use a soft, damp cloth and clean in a circular motion. usually works.and sometimes just taking it out and out and it back in works. :P

That's weird. Melee worked on my Wii console. It might be the problem with your lens, or you put the disc in the wrong way. Try your other Gamecube games, and see what happens.

r u sure the wii and the GC r from the same region? because if they arent, thats the answer. but dont worry, in one month u'll have melee 9.0
um just play it on your GC
It's a US Wii, a US copy of Melee, and a US GCN. As I've said, every other GCN games works with my Wii and GCN except for Melee. It recognizes it as a GCN game, but then when I click on the Disc Channel and try to play the game, I get the Disc Read Error.
um just play it on your GC
yeah what he said it is probably because it is scratced or something and i would call nintendo just to make sure...
Same exact thing happen to me...CD not in the greatest condition but whenever I would play 1player or anything I would get an error...So yea the way I fixed it was by letting it run on the main screen for a lil while (1-2 mins) and worked good as new (only tried this once though)
You should open it up and see whats wrong
