How do you get past Hammer bros??

How can you beat or even just get past Hammer bros in Super mario bros? They are soooooooo hard! How do you get past Hammer bros??
This is the best question I've seen in a LOONG time and so glad about the Virtual ConsoleJust wait till they get on the higher levels and hit them from underneath. How do you get past Hammer bros??
Just wait till they get on the higher levels and hit them from underneath.
But what about the ones in 8-3 that don't have a higher level to jump to, eh?Those guys are easy to get by. Just run fast through the level and they'll jump out of the way. Kind of. Maybe you have to run under one and jump over the other. It's been awhile and my memory sucks.

By the way Jordan this thread had better go in the top 5 of the week lolThis thread is a pure classic in so many different ways

that or have a mushroom and just dash underneath them...lol

ahh... I remember asking myself this plenty of times back in the day. Those d@rn hammer bros and their ability to fall through two levels to touch you with their TAIL and KILL YOU!!!:lol:

That game is so much fun :)
Those d@rn hammer bros and their ability to fall through two levels to touch you with their TAIL and KILL YOU!!!:lol:
Oh man I hated thatIt's like they go up one, drop one, go up one, go up another one, you start to run..They drop two!

I was hoping it was something like that, but I've never had the guts to fun flat out at them. Thanks!
Those d@rn hammer bros and their ability to fall through two levels to touch you with their TAIL and KILL YOU!!!
You can get around that. Just time your jump when he drops so that you kill him as he's dropping. That way, if he was going to stop on the first level anyway, he's dead. And if he was going to drop all the way down, he's still dead.

Those knaves. They're even hard to hit with a fire flower. I kinda just dodge and wait till there's an opening to get past.
How can you beat or even just get past Hammer bros in Super mario bros? They are soooooooo hard!
My heads exploding! That is an awesome question! Hammer Bros. are psych-out kings. It's always a 50/50 for me when I meet up with them.
All the times i've defeated them were flukes.

Thanks!
lol i love talking about stuff like this. back away from them if they get close and wait for them to jump into higher levels. in 8-3, i suggest picking up speed and jumping right over them (or waiting for them to jump so you can sneak under, but this method is tricky because you might not develop enough momentum to sneak under and you'll more than likely end up getting squished, but try it if jumping over doesn't work).
I never, ever thought I'd see a thread like this. I mean, the game's over 20 years old! It's awesome, really.By the way, do you guys know how to turn on a light-bulb? These new-fangled contraptions are giving me a tough time.
How can you beat or even just get past Hammer bros in Super mario bros?
Avoid their hammers.
