The Wii is a great innovative gaming system. My problem is the lack of support and ideas from Nintendo. For example take the channels available for download. The system has been out for a year and basically we have Wii vote and Mii channel. I really dont care to vote on whether I go out in the rain or stay home. Nor do I care what others prefer to do. Some other channels and even a support channel should be added. Regular system updates should be available for the many known issues. For instance the daylight savings time is wrong. The friend codes were not a great idea. There is no on-line community for the wii. Each game has different friend codes. You cannot use the same user profile. Maybe a channel for online gaming could be added. An update to the Mii creation so there are more options in customizing your mii.I have had my Wii since sept. 07. Since that time the forms on Nintendo.com have been down for a relaunch of the site. For the last few months basically all of mynintendo.com has been down. The Wii has the chance to be very innovative, however Nintendo has done very little in the last year along the lines of adding content. And the content which has been added is simple and useless.I would really like to see some more channels, system updates for SD card use, and downloadable content. As of now I dont belive there are any games which have already been released which have any downloadable content. I would gladly play nintendo a monthly fee if it meant more support for internet users.Nintendo dropping the ball

Well, the day we start payign a monthly fee to nintendo will be the day we start seeing regular system updates. Personally, I'm happy with the free stuff.I agree with the friend codes thing. Not a fan of them at all.The mynintendo site works just fine for me. I even scheduled a repair, registered all my games and system, and adjusted my news subscription status. not sure why you're having a problem... update your browser, perhaps?
Tissue?
That was quite rude and uncalled for. I agree with everything this guy is saying. I've had my Wii since midnight the day it came out and it's barely had anything added to it since. Sure, the system is still fairly new but on the other side it's been out nearly a year and a half. Nintendo did make a lot of promises before the system came out, although these didn't have dates I wasn't expecting them to start doing decent additions like two years later.
You realize there is an option under the settings to change the clcok time, right? That has nothing to do with the update, the update just added a clock, and while it should have given an option for daylight savings, it didn't and it is not really a big deal.-Shark2k
i am happy with the channels but i would like some more interactive channels but in japan i think they have a channel were your wii sends a signal to your ds and you can play demos on your ds and it also has info on the latest games so that will be fun if it ever gets here
I agree with you on the Friends Codes issue. They need one code for all games along with ''Kids'' and ''Adults'' zones. They also need mic support. In the ''Kids Zone'' voice is limited to friends only, in the ''Adult'' zone it's voice for everyone. This is a simple and necessary solution. I agree that kids should not be exposed to filthy, immature chatterboxes readily found on Live, but talking crap is a big part of psychological warfare in online gaming. Same for real sports like NBA and NFL. Aside from that I've been very happy with the Internet, Check Mii Out, and News Channels. I think Nintendo has done the best job at executing their gameplan out of the big 3. Take out backwards compatibility on a $400 system that lacks games, or do rolling blackouts for 2 weeks on a pay-for-use online gaming service while continuing to sell a system that overheats. That's dropping the ball. Nintendo is just failing to go for the killing blow by holding back features that would bring over intense online gamers.
They are too busy counting the money to make system updates...
Really I haven't got a game that requires me to worry about online yet though. SSBB will change that though and I might start complaining about it too. For now though I bought a Wii for what I knew it already had.
Those that early adopted expecting 'promises' to be fulfilled hopefully learned their lessons. As for me right now, the Wii is doing everything I expected it to do. If you wanted it to do something else you should have bought one of the other consoles or saved your money.
Why do you think Nintendo is dropping the ball, if they have the two best seller systems this gen? I'm happy with my Wii, personally, and this year looks promising for the Wii. The channels are free, what else do you want?
Tissue?Innovation does lie in online play or online communities. Online has been around for more than a decade and slapping a new coat of paint on it does not make it innovative. Having a news, weather, and internet channel is cool enough for me. I am looking forward to WiiWare and love the VC. Nothing is really innovative about that. The innovation nintendo has brought around lies within gameplay. Look at the DS then look at the Wii. At their best, can they be compared to anything else?
Yes well...I would like to know what this *new* Wii ware everyone is talking about. And I don't mean the vc because apparently this is somewat if not completely different.

WiiWare will 'pick the ball back up', by giving small developing teams chances to 'show their stuff' for much cheaper than making games for the other 2 systems. Actually, 70% cheaper from what I heard.......
how about we worry about the lack of Wii games worth buying 1st?
don't you like their work?
why don't you show 'em how to work or something?
i mean, complaining and blaming is SO damn easy..
but their work isn't
they are not dropping the ball
they are working hard as always (yeah, they've been working hard since the 80's)
oh, and if you are waiting for a better online experience
i'm sorry my friend, but you just bought the wrong console
and if you didn't like the Wii, sell it, there are many people searching for one
and maybe next time you will meditate before throwing your money to a thing that everybody likes but you have no idea of what it does or what it was meant to do

I don't know what's so hard about engaging in a conversation even if you have an opposing view without insulting eachother, which you are doing also.
I never said I did not like my Wii. The first sentence in my post was how I liked it. I am disappointed in the lack of support and added content for the system. The Wii is capable of having a lot of nice channels and support. Everyone wants to see it as a complaint. I like the Wii and I like the games so far put out. What I dont like are the two channels released in the year since the machine has been out. I know how to change the time on the Wii. My point on this was to say a simple fix could have been to have a wiiware update and include daylight savings time.Life spans of consoles are around five years. At the rate Nintendo is going D/L content, updates, variety of good channels, will arrive as the system is on the downward stretch of it's life. Much like the memory expansion for the N64. By the time games could be made to use the extra memory, gamecube was on the horizon.I knew what I was getting when I bought the Wii. I have always been a Nintendo fan because the games are just plain fun. At this point I just seen Nintendo doing what they have with all thier previous consoles. Making consoles with the ability to improve and add on, yet releasing very little and taking a long time to finally release what they do.
Online play on Wii is nothing special. It's just meant for people to play against others and have some fun instead of facing boring CPU's that are way to predictable.Besides, Nintendo's starting to push up their online anyway with WiiWare downloadable content and the VC is still going strong. Yes, at the moment, the channels we have are disappointing and fairly pointless (even if they are fun diversions :P ). Plus, with the Everybody's Nintendo Channel, we'll be able to download DS demo's straight to our DS' and also be able to watch videos and trailers of upcoming games. We just have to wait and let Nintendo work on it. Besides, if you got a Wii for online only, you'll no doubt be dissapointed. And a monthly fee would alienate most of the Wii user base.
