Ok, so there's a lot of talk going around about what the next Mario game would be. Super Mario Universe? Super Mario Mini? I think i have a compromise. What about a game where Mario must travel to entirely different dimensions? The possibilities are endless! He could travel somewhere where Gravity is all wacko like in Galaxy, or somewhere where everything is 2-D like a classic Mario! There could be worlds where all colors are mixed up, or places where all of the controls are backwards! There could be levels where you fly, levels where you swim, levels where you teleport, and so much more! Also, picture this, what if one of those dimensions is Hyrule or Dreamland? With a game like this, Nintendo could do literally ANYTHING!Super Mario Dimensions!
Sounds pretty cool. Nintendo went fully bananas on the space idea, but with different dimensions they could just break all the rulesSuper Mario Dimensions!
Doubt they will put places from other series into a Mario game. Doubt I would want them too.. Dimensions is a pretty good idea, though. Micro Mario is too. Anyway, I don't doubt Nintendo's next Mario adventure will rock, so I'm not going to think about this much.
The next Mario does indeed have a lot to live up to after Galaxy. I personally think they should continue what they did with Galaxy but go into more detail. Where entire planets or galaxies have levels that run the entire range that uses engines from Super Mario World to Super Paper Mario to Super Mario Galaxy. Mix them up in the actual levels but to a degree where the change is flawless. Or they could go in a direction that is pure adventure where you have a endless world to explore with save points but no actual ''levels'' in the traditional sense (think Legend of Zelda or Metroid Prime) or a hub that all Mario games seem to have (it being the level or world select screen, space station, castle, or town). That would mean a story focus on story which is what Mario games outside of the RPGs tend to lack since that was never their point. This could change that.
I'd prefer they go into a time-space manipulation game.
I'm also quite curious and even a tad nervous as to how they're going to top Galaxy. I've actually been having similar ideas to two posted in this thread, though I don't imagine they'd be possible with today's technology.A ''Micro Mario'' game where one could actually change Mario's size at will and in real-time would be incredible. Maybe have him collect mushrooms instead of stars (or a combination of both, like ''starshrooms'' or something) that would increase his capacity to grow or shrink and access new areas, complete with the classic ''growing'' and ''shrinking'' sfx from the original SMB. This doesn't seem quite possible, though, and I don't really know enough about game design, programing or graphics to fully understand or explain why.The same would go for the dimensions thing, I think. I would interepret that as being able to flip at will between completely different areas, but again, I don't know if that's technologically possible, and I should probably stop talking right now before I embarrass myself even further with my lack of basic gaming tech and terminology.
I think its acceptable to make another space oriented game. I just want more story and possibly voice acting from characters liek Bowser and Peach and Toad. Maybe a cameo of DK. I think they have the gameplay down they need to make the story new. Peach does not need to get captured yet again. Why cant it be a game revolving around something else like the Mushroom Kingdom fighting Bowser and his army? Mario is involved with levels that use this war as a premise.
I already know this is never going to happen, but just hear me out.I think it would be rad if they took Super Mario RPG for the SNES and completely fleshed it out into full 3-D a la Galaxy. That game had a great story (for the time), awesome game mechanics, and was just a freakin blast to play!Again, I know this will NEVER happen, but I like to dream.

i like that idea, I can already imagine what nintendo is thinking for the next mario ''SCREW the laws of physics!:.....but after mario dimensions what next??? mario takes on GOD?
Mario wouldn't just take on God...he'd stomp God. Unless God has a spikey head.
